Director of Technology Delivery, Hybrid working with 2–3 days per week in Wakefield HQ

In this high-impact role, you'll lead a diverse portfolio of programmes and projects spanning modern cloud platforms and legacy on-premise systems. With a strong track record of driving technology change in fast-paced, high-demand environments (ideally within retail), you’ll balance long-term strategic vision with precision execution—ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and on point.
Reporting directly to the CIO, you’ll also serve as their deputy when required—playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our technology agenda.
What You’ll Be Getting Up To:
In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering key IT projects on time and within budget, ensuring they support our business objectives. You'll shape delivery processes, oversee clear and effective project artefacts, and manage IT environments and testing—with a focus on automation and collaboration with external partners. You'll work closely with systems integrators and third-party vendors, ensuring strong performance and alignment with contracts. Solutions will need to align with our IT strategy, make full use of ERP capabilities, and support the decommissioning of legacy systems. You'll also identify and drive removal of technical debt through practical, efficient approaches.
What We’re Looking For:
- Must be able toclearly demonstrate success in a similar senior technology delivery role, with evidence of driving business value through technology.
- Proven experience in delivering IT portfolios of£10m+in a fast-pacedretail environment.
- Demonstrable commercial experience in ERP systems—ideallySAP S/4HANA—across retail, wholesale, and directly managed store operations.
- A sharp focus on aligning IT delivery with business goals to drive measurable value and operational efficiency.
- Previous experience of successfullyleading IT applications teams providing support in fast-paced, consumer businesses.
