The role: We are looking for a highly driven, innovative and commercially minded person to lead our video operation. You will be a senior leader in the newsroom and must have extensive experience across multiple video platforms. You will be responsible for growing our video editorial, audience and revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the video team to produce world-class journalism across both titles
  • Pitch video-led stories in morning and afternoon news conferences
  • Responsible for growing audiences on our owned and operated channels
  • Responsible for growing audiences across all of our off-platform channels, including YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook
  • Responsible for growing video revenue across all channels
  • Grow our video offering generally, with particular focus on lifestyle channels such as Style and Travel, creating new franchises and series in collaboration with commercial
  • Work on the engagement of the newsroom with video, promoting our talent and increasing the prominence of video in the commissioning processes
  • Work closely with commercial teams to ensure we achieve the scale needed to monetise
  • Use data and analytics to guide programming and commissioning
  • Strategise with the senior leadership team on video

Qualifications

  • Extensive newsroom experience
  • To be a leader in digital video at national or international news organisations
  • Be an expert across multiple video platforms, including social
  • Proven track record of growing audiences on multiple channels
  • To be innovative in your storytelling and production methods
  • Experience growing a catalogue of original programming and series
  • Experience working across multiple content verticals, from breaking news to entertainment and lifestyle
  • A deep understanding of analytics and taking a data-driven approach
  • Proven ability to grow revenue across various platforms
  • Experience working with commercial sales teams to develop video projects
