Job Description

Based in London, reporting to the Managing Director, Funds – Real Estate, and working closely with the Real Estate Head of Europe, the incumbent contributes to the deployment and monitoring of investments entrusted to external management firms in the real estate sector in Europe, by prospecting, negotiating, and monitoring new investment funds and co-investments. They will also ensure the maintenance of a rigorous analysis process by promoting collaboration and teamwork.

What you will do

  • Develop business opportunities in real estate investment funds through a good network of contacts and adopt proactive approaches;

  • Coordinate, structure, and execute the setup of commitments in funds, their negotiation, implementation, and monitoring;

  • Work closely with analysts to guide the production of analyses;

  • Lead due diligence autonomously, rigorously, and comprehensively, using appropriate internal and/or external resources;

  • Prepare and recommend files to the investment committee autonomously (screening; positioning document and decision summary);

  • Take full responsibility, with the collaboration of analysts, for monitoring an existing portfolio of real estate investment funds and co-investments (monitoring sheets, internal reporting, performance analyses, etc.);

  • Review quarterly reports and evaluations of real estate investment funds and co-investments under their responsibility;

  • Review quarterly cash flow projections and performance of funds and co-investments under their responsibility;

  • Maintain a watch on the secondary market for investment or fund disposition opportunities;

  • Establish and maintain relationships with portfolio managers and potential candidates;

  • Participate in various projects or activities related to improving the team's investment process and increasing the systematization of portfolio monitoring tools;

  • Analyze trends in the investment firm industry and maintain relationships with various intermediaries in the investment firm industry;

  • Ensure the transmission of industry best management practices to CDPQ's internal management teams;

  • Regularly share their own experiences and knowledge with their team and the Direct Real Estate team to constantly improve the quality of transactions;

  • Attend General Partner events, as necessary;

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams at La Caisse (e.g., Private Equity, Private Credit, Research; Risk; Legal, etc.).

What you bring

  • University degree in business administration, finance, accounting, real estate, or any other related discipline;

  • Professional title: CPA, CFA, or Chartered Appraiser considered an asset;

  • More than ten (10) years of relevant experience in fund management and partnerships or real estate investment management;

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;

  • Experience in negotiating investment fund agreements;

  • Excellent command of the Office suite, fund performance benchmarking tools (Preqin, etc.), and specifically presentation software such as PowerPoint and strong expertise in financial modeling;

  • Proficiency in French, both oral and written, is an asset;

  • Availability for occasional business travel.
