We are seeking a complete, all-round business leader to head our Business Unit Water Europe, accelerating growth while delivering measurable impact for communities, clients and our people. You will be fully responsible for the performance of this Unit and inspire a team of 500 employees to turn opportunities into sustainable value across Europe’s water and environmental markets.What you will doAs the Director Business Unit (DBU) for Water Europe, you are directly working together with the directors of the advisory groups who report to you. You’ll translate corporate and Business Line ambitions into clear plans, then mobilise the organisation to execute—combining a strong growth mindset with a culture of inclusion, learning and innovation. You will:Set and deliver growth strategy for the Water and Environmental sector in Europe—prioritising markets, defining offers and pricing, and driving robust go-to-market plans that expand revenue, margin and market share.Own BU performance with full accountability for commercial, operational and people outcomes—linking strategy to P&L, pipeline health, utilisation and delivery excellence.Grow and scale teams significantly—attracting, developing and retaining diverse talent; building high performing leadership benches; and aligning multi-country teams behind shared goals.Lead client engagement with key utilities, water boards, industry and government across Europe—strengthening strategic accounts, partnerships and frameworks.Champion culture and change—role modelling an inclusive, safe and purpose-led environment; communicating strategy clearly; and leading transformation with clarity and empathy.Where you will workAt Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. You combine strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.Hard skills and experience:Proven leadership of a business unit (or equivalent) of scale and complexity, with P&L accountability.Growth track record—you have scaled teams significantly, built robust pipelines, expanded accounts, and delivered step-change improvements in revenue, margin and cash.Broad understanding of the water & environmental sector.Extensive experience in the European consulting market — comfortable operating across cultures, navigating different regulatory environments and customer needs.Excellent written and spoken English.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related discipline.10+ years in the sector, including 5+ years leading at BU/region level or equivalent.Flexibility to travel as required, mostly within Europe.What you can expect from usAt Haskoning, we believe that the well-being of our employees is essential to our shared success.
