Role overview
The Director of Education will be a strategic leadership role within Capgemini Invent’s Public Sector practice in the UK. This individual will be responsible for establishing, growing, and managing the Education sector across Public Sector, both from a technical and sales perspective. The role will involve a mix of sales, programme management, and technical leadership, with a focus on driving delivery across clients, and ensuring the success of education initiatives within the business.
Responsibilities
- Establish and scale Capgemini Invent’s Education practice in the UK, building the operational foundation required for success.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Education strategy, including defining the portfolio of services, operationalising solutions, and building out the team.
- Mentor and lead cross-functional teams, ensuring technical excellence, alignment with client needs, and the continuous development of education-related skills across the organisation.
- Ensure the Education capability remains cutting-edge and competitive through ongoing research and by cultivating relationships with DfE, HE, Award Bodies, and their affiliated ecosystem of partners.
- Lead and oversee the successful delivery of large, complex Education programmes from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with client objectives, on-time delivery, and within budget.
- Identify market trends and client needs, aligning Capgemini Invent’s Education offerings with those insights to drive sales growth.
Additional activities
- Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.
- Internal contribution – Campaign development, internal think-tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development.
- Learning & development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.
Your profile
- Proven experience in leading the development of an Education practice or similar capabilities within a consulting or technology firm.
- Significant experience in programme management, including overseeing large-scale implementations in Education.
- Expertise in selling and delivering solutions across multiple Education programmes, with a strong track record of securing large and complex contracts.
- Experience in client-facing roles, ideally working with C-level executives to advise on and drive Education transformation programmes.
- A deep understanding of DfE, HE, and Award Bodies required solutions, with the ability to lead and guide teams in their technical implementation.
- Currently working in a major Consulting firm, and/or in industry but having a Consulting background. Proven ability to be successful in a matrixed organisation, and to enlist support and commitment from peers in selling and delivering consulting solutions.
- Experience of proposition building and delivery.
- Business development – utilising a combination of the organisation’s broader pre-existing relationships, company relationships and your own network, you’ll be generating approximately £2m of consulting revenues (Director).
