At ILM, FX Technical Directors are tasked with creating simulations, procedural animation, and rendering photorealistic effects elements for feature film, animation, and episodic visual effects. We seek an artist with strong technical and problem-solving abilities, paired with a keen creative eye. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and consistently strives to deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities:

• Create detailed effects layers using RBD, fluid, cloth, and particle simulations.
• Set up and manage elements for large-scale effects-driven shots and animations.
• Resolve technical problems and debug simulation and rendering issues.
• Render and light effects for final composites.
• Quickly learn new techniques and continuously improve quality and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Experience as an effects technical director in film, animation, episodic TV, or related fields.
• Proficiency and passion for teamwork.
• Proactive communication skills.
• Strong aesthetic sense.
• Interest and skill in technical and creative problem-solving.
• Good knowledge of Houdini and VFX pipeline.
• Linux proficiency.
