We are looking for a senior individual to join the global Energy, Infrastructure & Environment team, with the role based in Edinburgh.
Forvis Mazars’ Energy, Infrastructure & Environment practice is trusted by the world\'s leading investors and developers in the sector to deliver a broad range of services. Within this practice, the Infrastructure Finance business unit provides modelling, model audit, valuations, training and advisory services to clients across EMEA.
Job Purpose
To lead the development of UK regional sector offering within Forvis Mazars Energy, Infrastructure & Environment team by developing local relationships focused on Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow), Northern England and Midlands (Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham) regions and building sector knowledge, working closely with the other partners and directors based in the region as well as the wider sector leadership team.
We are looking for the right person to help drive the business forward. The right person would have:
- Significant experience in the energy and infrastructure sector and a strong existing network of sector clients and relationships.
- Excellent client relationship skills, combining commitment to first-rate client service with the curiosity to understand the client\'s business strategy and assets.
- Execution capacity, relationships, BD focus and strategy to help implement the existing business and drive new business.
- A key point of contact for other Forvis Mazars firms with energy and infrastructure opportunities and other UK service lines.
- Play a full role in our energy and infrastructure sector marketing strategy and be seen as a sector expert both within Forvis Mazars and externally.
The role is senior and involves collaboration with multiple other senior individuals across Forvis Mazars (UK and internationally). The right person would be able to use it as a platform to either push for partnership or develop a leadership role as a partner.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Business development and broader team management to deliver assignments.
- Shape and deliver the regional sector strategy for Forvis Mazars Energy and Infrastructure offering.
- Develop market intelligence and sector knowledge to prepare for new client opportunities and pitches.
- Lead on proposal documents for new opportunities and help to convert these.
- Build an external network, developing a strong rapport with existing and target clients and key market constituents.
- Lead the team in marketing activity and build own market profile.
- Build an internal network within Forvis Mazars (UK and internationally) to maximise value to clients and opportunities for the firm.
- Work as part of an integrated deal advisory offering, collaborating with Transaction Services, Tax and other advisory teams.
- Promote Forvis Mazars energy and infrastructure sector knowledge within the firm.
- Manage delivery of client engagements by directing the team to achieve client objectives across service offerings.
- Take day-to-day lead on running assignments, typically with a portfolio of assignments at any one time.
People and Product Development
- Help develop client deliverables, processes and team capabilities informed by sector dynamics and commercial understanding.
- Mentor junior team members through coaching, training and development.
- Review work and provide informal feedback during fieldwork.
- Ensure deliverables are visually effective and clear.
- Build market relationships and knowledge to keep valuations up to date with latest market insights; promote a learning culture across the team.
- Potential for line management responsibilities for staff in London, Delhi and Pune.
Key Requirements for the Role:
- Several years of experience in sector advisory work in energy and infrastructure.
- Strong track record in energy & infrastructure and building relationships with sector clients.
- Proven leadership in building business and leading teams.
- Good understanding of industry trends and key players.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrable project management skills and ability to meet demanding timetables.
- Track record of client relationship development through repeat work.
- Ability to interpret and present results with commercial acumen.
- Proactive, confident leader with ability to build professional relationships at all levels.
- Understanding of engagement and risk processes in an accountancy context; experience applying these.
- Accounting and/or broader finance knowledge (ACA or CFA desirable but not essential).
- Fluency in English; additional EU language desirable.
- Self-motivated, ambitious, and hardworking with a strong client service focus and teamwork.
