Our client, a major player in cross-border energy infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Engineering & Technical Director to join their Senior Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a key leadership role overseeing engineering integrity, asset management, and the ongoing development of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems and converter station infrastructure spanning the UK, the Channel Tunnel, and France.
The Opportunity As Engineering & Technical Director, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary technical team and play a central role in shaping the organisation’s strategy, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the reliability of one of Europe’s most important interconnector assets.
Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a team covering engineering, projects, and commercial support functions. Set and deliver the technical strategy, aligning with business and regulatory objectives. Oversee the safe, reliable operation of converter stations, HVDC cables, and associated systems. Manage relationships with OEMs, service partners, and regulators. Ensure compliance with UK and EU standards while embedding a strong safety and quality culture. Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and lifecycle performance across all assets.
About You You’re a proven engineering leader with deep experience in HVDC systems, power transmission, or major energy infrastructure. You combine strong technical insight with strategic thinking and have a track record of leading high-performing teams in complex, safety-critical environments.
