Job Description

A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced and strategic Employee Relations & Policy Director to oversee employee relations, HR governance, and regulatory compliance across its Europe and Asia Pacific operations. This is a senior-level role offering the opportunity to influence policy, manage complex ER matters, and engage with regulatory bodies in a highly regulated, multinational environment.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the employee relations function across Europe and Asia Pacific, acting as the primary subject matter expert.
  • Manage complex ER cases including whistleblowing, grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal governance frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and employee handbooks in accordance with local and global regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the key HR contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and HR Centres of Excellence to ensure robust governance and control.
  • Design and deliver training programmes for HR professionals and people managers.
  • Analyse ER data to identify trends and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Support organisational change initiatives with expert guidance on employee relations implications.
  • Monitor employment law developments and assess potential impacts on the organisation.


Experience

  • Proven expertise in managing complex ER issues across multiple jurisdictions, including Europe and Asia Pacific.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, SOX, and SMCR.
  • Experience working with internal and external legal counsel, with a clear understanding of attorney-client privilege.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a pragmatic approach to execution.
