Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior member of the Corporate Banking team to manage and monitor the growing portfolio.
  • Take over day-to-day and long-term ownership for growing accounts, including detailed monitoring for project finance loans, review and evaluation of amendments, waivers and consents, and refinancing transactions, in line with CIBC’s European strategy and risk appetite.
  • Remain current on existing client base, industry trends, economic trends, and market intelligence.
  • Ensure high quality of credit analysis, compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate legal documentation in conjunction with internal credit approvals for amendments, etc.
  • Represent the firm’s interests externally and internally through restructurings, as needed.
  • Respond to requests from internal and external Auditors and Bank Examiners.
  • Track on-time delivery of borrowers’ reporting obligations; coordinate review of Budgets, Operational Reports, Financials, Risk Ratings with Risk Management.
  • Coordinate and support operational matters (including loan payoffs, syndication process) on loans.
  • Support deal teams for refinancings or new transactions, including execution, due diligence, and closing.
  • Support onboarding of new clients, preparation of marketing materials, and development of internal policies, rating models and other tools.
  • Support senior team members and develop a strong internal network across geographies, including interaction with Executive Committee Members in Luxembourg.
  • Ensure recommendations and client opinions comply with legislation and reflect risk appetite and professional standards.
  • Work within CIBC governance practices to ensure risks are addressed and reputational and shareholder objectives are respected.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff and contribute fresh perspectives to the business.

Required knowledge / skills / attributes

  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in European renewables, infrastructure, or project finance, with a track record in structuring and executing complex credit transactions.
  • Deep understanding of renewables, infrastructure, and energy transition sectors, including market influences and capital markets activity.
  • Sophisticated credit analysis, cashflow/project finance modelling, and experience with complex credit documentation and due diligence.
  • Team player with collaboration and organizational skills, and adaptability.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to convey complex information to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards, professionalism, and commitment to teamwork, trust, and accountability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
