OverviewAssist Regional Head CPM and Head Stressed Asset Group to implement the strategy for CPM as it relates to management of stressed exposures across Europe & Americas region. Stressed exposures include legacy CG 13 and CG 14 exposures managed by the Stressed Asset Group, all new CG 13 and CG 14 exposures managed with the respective Client Coverage Relationship Managers effective 1 March 2022, and any other exposures with imminent signs of stress including CG12 exposures under co-management with Frontline. Ensure adherence to CPM business conduct framework in implementing this strategy. Reinforce the principle of first line ownership of risk in managing emerging risks in the Europe & Americas CIB portfolio, ensure timely detection and mitigation, and collaborate with Risk, FM/Banking teams to manage down the stressed asset portfolio and improve RoTE for CIB and the Group. Provide transparency on cost, risk, and decision making related to the stressed asset portfolio. Aim to optimise RWA and liquidity in the legacy stressed asset portfolio for Europe & Americas and ensure appropriate data capture to feed into CIB’s data/credit modelling regimes. Monitor the overall CIB credit risk portfolio with CPM Regional Heads to address potential credit issues and reduce exposure through secondary distribution and/or hedging, thereby reducing concentration risk and freeing up regulatory capital. Optimise the portfolio while staying within risk tolerance.ResponsibilitiesStrategyResponsible for developing clear milestones to measure progress of the Stressed Asset Group’s strategy implementation for Europe & Americas and for the execution tracker to monitor regional portfolio progress.Challenge and support impairment forecasts developed by First Line based on a balanced judgement of external environment.Develop team skill set in Structured Finance, Project Finance, Leverage Finance and CRE.Key ResponsibilitiesDrive financial performance against targets including RoTE/ RoRWA, RWA targets for CIB.Improve efficiency, speed, and productivity of capital for the stressed asset portfolio and broader CIB balance sheet.Reinforce first-line ownership of risk and origination discipline; manage risk for stressed assets in collaboration with RM teams and frontline.Determine appropriate credit risk grade and provisioning on all stressed assets in the region.Work with frontline teams and risk partners to adhere to CG 12 and CG 13/14 Roles & Responsibilities and Problem Accounts Management Standards; report material impairments to Regional Head CPM and SAG risk committees.Collaborate to minimise risk from litigation, environmental claims, regulatory censure or reputational risk related to stressed assets.Provide feedback to frontline teams on improvements in credit origination, documentation, or early problem recognition.Reduce P&L volatility while managing returns: Drive continuous improvement of operational efficiency and data integrity, set strategic objectives and performance measures for mitigation actions and cover ratio.Optimise liquidity and capital resources to support CIB growth: Promote alignment of global priorities with local balance sheet realities and engage proactively.ProcessesSupport and manage CPM processes allocated to the CEO, CIB by the Group process universe, including hubbed or outsourced activities.Execute policy and control standards, ensure compliance within risk tolerance, and regularly test and improve systems and controls for Stressed Asset Group and CPM.Ensure a framework for effective operational risk management and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.Risk ManagementEnsure Stressed Asset Group operates within the Group’s risk appetite; manage reputational and credit risks with stakeholders.Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, including AML requirements.Address audit and compliance issues promptly; escalate risk matters to appropriate risk committees as needed.Regulatory & Business ConductDisplay exemplary conduct and adhere to Group Values and Code of Conduct.Embed high standards of ethics across the Bank; comply with applicable laws, regulations, and the Group Code of Conduct.Lead the SAG Team to outcomes in line with Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.Key StakeholdersInternal: Regional/Country Client Coverage Heads, Global and Regional Head Stressed Asset Risk, Product Heads, Business and Country CFOs, Regional Chief Credit & Risk Officers, HR Heads, Heads of Legal, Compliance. External: Stressed Asset Groups at other FIs, Credit/Stressed Asset Funds, Portfolio Management teams at other banks, institutional and private investors, regulators, and external advisors.Other ResponsibilitiesSupport CSR to enhance reputation and influence outcomes; promote the Group’s brand with clients, stakeholders and regulators; perform other policy-based responsibilities.People & TalentLead by example, foster appropriate culture and values, provide effective leadership, and ensure staff have clear P3 objectives aligned to scorecards and performance reviews.Skills and ExperienceFinancial analysis, financial statement analysis, market knowledge, capital management, commercial loan review, portfolio management, financial products and markets, ALM, legal analysis.QualificationsGraduate qualifications or equivalents (MBA, CFA, CA, Mathematics/Stats, qualified lawyer); over 20 years’ experience in banking/financial services; deep knowledge of Structured Finance, Project Finance, Leverage Finance and CRE; strong understanding of credit risk, regulatory dynamics; experience in credit risk product structuring and asset securitisation.About Standard CharteredWe’re an international bank with a long history of making a positive difference.
