Executive Director - Development & Agency Finance

Job Summary
We are seeking a Executive Director to lead origination (from buyer and exporter clients), development, marketing, negotiation and execution of Development & Agency Finance transactions (loan arranger and structuring/ advisory mandate) with particular focus on:
o Defense - globally
o Shipping (Cargo & Cruise) sectors - globally (in collaboration with Transportation Finance team), and
o Europe - regionally
• Use of Export Credit Agency, Multilateral and Developmental Finance products and risk mitigation techniques to reduce credit and funding risks in both, existing and future assets (as applicable);
• Support Global Head DAF & Regional Head Europe in implementing the business strategy and delivering on budgeted revenues (including running with own revenue budget)
• Actively engage with the global/regional ECAs/MDB/DFIs to develop new structures and usage of new products introduced by these institutions.
• Lead DAF's alternative distribution channel in collaboration with CPM/Frisk etc).
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Support the Regional/DAF business by delivering DAF Global budgeted fee & derivative revenues and portfolio metric.
• Conducting research and analysis on opportunities, emerging sectors and clients to deliver the DAF strategy.
Business
• Generation of new business opportunities
o Identifying and originating transactions from borrower/buyer and exporters in the identified sectors and markets with focus on corporate, banks and sovereign borrowers/buyers and exporters targeting the inbound market;
o Development and execution of strategy for identified sectors (i.e. Defense, Cargo, Cruise Shipping) and coordinating with the relevant internal stakeholders for support.
o Planning and implementation of marketing activities in assigned markets and sectors;
• Managing and developing relationships with identified Borrowers, Exporters , Export Credit Agencies, Multilaterals and DFIs to develop sound understanding of their policies and product program. Being able to deliver the ECA/ML/DFI structures to clients.
• Work across product groups in Global Banking, Financial Markets and Transaction Banking to cross sell other banking solutions
• Development of relationships with key individuals at borrowers, project sponsors, exporters and relevant Agencies;
• Independently lead deal teams on ensure business opportunities and transactions are developed and executed in a timely and efficient manner
• Support Global Head DAF in revenue and balance sheet forecasting
• Manage the credit approval process efficiently and effectively and establish a good reputation for the DAF business with Credit
• Ensure strict compliance with the Bank's policies and procedures - incl. Credit, Legal, Compliance, Reputational Risk, Environmental (incl. Equator Principles) etc - for the unit and on transactions being executed
Processes
• Manage the implementation of policies and control standards set by risk control owners and policy owners, ensuring compliance and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite. Ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems, controls and procedures relating to DAF that they are regularly and independently tested, assessed and improved in a timely manner.
• Drive continuous improvement of the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes to increase the consistency of global systems and processes.
• Responsible for defining critical business operations within the Region to deliver continuation of business within DAF.
• Work with wider DAF and IDFG teams to support the delivery of the DAF strategy in a safe and well-controlled manner and on an end-to-end basis - incorporating infrastructure requirements and building a business that is fit-for-growth.
People & Talent
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.
• Set appropriate tone and expectations within DAF teams work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training, supervision and development of junior staff to improve their understanding of the ECA/MDB product and bank's systems/processes.
• Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans to deliver budget.
Risk Management
• Ensure there are appropriate frameworks in place so that the DAF Regional business is carried out within the Group's risk appetite and reputational and credit risks are appropriately managed in conjunction with direct reports and other stakeholders.
• Provide oversight DAF process and ensure compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance standards and practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
• Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job-holder's attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or escalated, where appropriate to relevant risk committees.
Governance
• Accountable for escalation from DAF region to DAF & PEF MT and/or other Group governance committees or to stakeholders in senior management, risk or control functions as appropriate.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
