Role

Senior Finance Director for a long-established, privately owned business with a diverse portfolio spanning land, agriculture, and strategic assets. The role leads financial strategy and ensures robust financial governance across the businesses.

Responsibilities

• Shaping and driving the financial strategy, aligning commercial performance with long-term vision, board objectives, and sustainability goals.
• Acting as a key member of the leadership team, providing financial insight to inform strategic decisions across key business operations and diversified income streams.
• Working closely with the Managing Director and shareholders to evaluate opportunities for value creation.
• Providing financial leadership on transformation projects.
• Developing business cases for investment projects ensuring thorough appraisal of risk, return, and alignment with estate values and regulatory context.
• Monitoring and responding to macroeconomic and policy developments, advising the board on potential impacts and opportunities.
• Championing innovation in business models, technology, and data use.
• Overseeing all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management.
• Leading preparation of annual accounts and liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and other professional services.
• Regulatory compliance across the business and its entities.
• Overseeing income and expenditure across let property portfolios.
• Supporting development appraisals and planning gain projects from a financial perspective.

Operational Oversight

• Leading and developing the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensuring strong internal controls and financial processes are in place and fit for a multi-entity, multi-activity business.
• Collaborate with various business units and teams to optimise operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
• Commercial acumen with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence at Board level and across operational teams.
