A growing private equity–backed manufacturing and assembly business is seeking to appoint a Finance Director to join the leadership team. With turnover currently below £10m, the business is well established in its market and entering the next phase of its development, with a clear focus on scaling the business and pursuing acquisition opportunities.

\n\n

This is the No.1 finance role, working closely with the CEO and investors, with responsibility for leading the finance function and supporting the strategic direction of the company. The role will suit a commercially minded finance leader who is comfortable operating in a hands-on SME environment while contributing at board level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the finance function, including financial reporting, controls and compliance
    • \n\t
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual budgets
    • \n\t
  • Cashflow management and working capital oversight
    • \n\t
  • Development of financial reporting and KPI frameworks to support the board and investors
    • \n\t
  • Acting as a key business partner to the CEO and wider leadership team
    • \n\t
  • Supporting operational decision making through financial analysis and commercial insight
    • \n\t
  • Preparation of board packs and investor reporting
    • \n\t
  • Supporting the identification, evaluation and execution of potential acquisitions
    • \n\t
  • Strengthening financial processes and systems as the business grows
    • \n

Candidate Profile

\n\n
    \n\t
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
    • \n\t
  • Experience leading finance within a manufacturing, engineering or product-based SME
    • \n\t
  • Comfortable operating as a hands-on finance lead within a growing business
    • \n\t
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to support strategic decision making
    • \n\t
  • Experience working with private equity investors would be advantageous
    • \n\t
  • Exposure to M&A or acquisitions would be ideal but not essential
    • \n
