Finance Director

New Yesterday

We are a hyper‑growth Tech startup on a mission to revolutionise student rental. We’re now looking for Finance Director to help us on the next stage of our journey. In 2023 we were recognised by Tech Climbers as a rapidly scaling tech company, and we’re currently fundraising to fuel our growth even further.

Role Overview

Finance Director will own our financial operations as we scale. This hands‑on role combines technical capability with strategic oversight. You’ll be responsible for reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and cash flow management, ensuring our financial foundations are solid as Housr expands globally.

What we’re looking for

  • You’ve led the finance function within a growing SaaS company, tech startup or SME, and know what good looks like at scale.
  • You’re a chartered licensed accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
  • You have commercial experience navigating inter‑company trading and US GAAP.
  • You communicate clearly, work well with others, and are open to giving and receiving feedback.
  • You combine strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery across reporting, forecasting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial modelling – Build and maintain robust models that reflect the business and support decision‑making.
  • Reporting – Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and usefulness to internal stakeholders and investors.
  • Budgeting and forecasting – Lead the annual budgeting process, manage ongoing forecasts, and help the business understand performance and plan ahead.
  • Financial analysis – Dive into the numbers to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and present clear insights and recommendations.
  • Cash flow management – Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure the business is well‑capitalised and optimise working capital where possible.
  • Payroll – Oversee payroll processes and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Compliance and audit – Maintain high standards of financial governance, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Tax – Oversee tax compliance and planning, including international tax matters and supporting R&D tax credit claims.
  • EMI & pensions – Administer EMI share option schemes and own pension scheme management to ensure full compliance and employee clarity.

What you may find challenging

  • Hands‑on role with no large team – you will manage many functions directly.
  • A fast‑paced environment where decisions often need to be made with incomplete data.
  • Requirement to commit to four days a week in our brand‑new office in central Manchester.

Benefits

  • Compensation – Competitive for a senior role in an early‑stage SaaS startup, with meaningful options (details disclosed during interview).
  • Holiday – 25 days off plus bank holidays.
  • Monthly team lunches – Team gathering at month’s end.
  • Company socials – Paintball, ping‑pong, and other events.
  • Brand new central office space – In Manchester with hybrid policy (four days in office, Thursday remote).
  • Development stages – Structured interview process: Talent Partner call, executive video call, and in‑person meeting with CFO/CEO/COO.
  • Offer – Successful candidates will receive a formal offer.
