Overview
Base pay range: Head of Finance / Finance Director Gloucestershire / Oxfordshire border – c.£95,000 + Benefits Package. Our client is a privately owned commercial and residential construction firm. An organisational restructure has created a new role as Finance Director for the business. This position reports to the CEO and supports the Exec Board.
The Finance Director will lead and develop the Finance team to provide first-class reporting and operational control. This is a hands-on, senior commercial accounting role that will guide a high-performing team to drive performance and controls, and will be a key member of the executive leadership during a pivotal period for the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function and develop the team to deliver accurate reporting, robust controls, and efficient financial routines.
- Provide commercial leadership by challenging performance, supporting operations management in continuous improvement of financial performance, and ensuring the integrity of financial systems.
- Collaborate across all departments to deliver commercial control and quantify impact on the bottom line in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Design and implement new processes and systems to support rapid growth, and manage change effectively within the finance function.
- Develop colleagues, foster a positive culture, and build the capability and talent of the department while maintaining high standards of communication and emotional intelligence.
- Engage with stakeholders at executive level and act as a capable influencer to achieve results ethically and collaboratively.
- Maintain hands-on involvement in the detail while steering strategic financial delivery.

Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified accountant with senior-level experience in a dynamic, fast-changing business.
- Track record of delivering multiple project streams with prioritisation, resource allocation, and process improvement to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Strong analytical ability to design and deliver understandable insights from large datasets.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, gravitas, and the ability to influence in a positive, collaborative manner.
- Resilience, energy, drive, and a strong work ethic.
