About The Role

The Finance Director reports directly to the Regional CFO Europe based in the Netherlands, works closely with the Managing Director and is part of the local management team.

Job role and purpose

The Finance Director contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing the Finance and Accounting functions in order to optimize the company’s financial performance and strategic position. The Finance Director is the lead business partner who provides leadership across the finance team and enables better performance via process improvements and developments, taking full ownership of the budget while monitoring the performance of the P&L with analysis and commentary across senior stakeholders. As business partner, the Finance Director supports the Managing Director and the organization to achieve the growth plan, develop the organization, and be an active member of the local leadership team. As functional leader, the Finance Director drives the cycle of reporting, budgeting, monitoring and controlling. The Finance Director oversees the administrative organization, ensures correct handling of tax issues and tax planning, and manages legal affairs. The Finance Director has a signaling, monitoring and controlling role. The Finance Director has a Finance Manager as a direct report who oversees operational finance tasks, including reporting and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership of the Finance and Accounting function to optimize the company’s financial performance and strategic position.
• Form a close working relationship with the Managing Director, other senior managers, the regional CFO and the global finance organization.
• Participate in discussions with key customers and suppliers regarding financial terms, contracts, claims, and disputes.
• Be a visible leader in the local organization and build internal relationships with the central finance team in Europe and the Global HQ.
• Monitor and control the financial and liquidity position through active management of cash flow and overall income and expenditure.
• Recognize and manage risks across the business.
• Provide accurate and up-to-date information to internal and external stakeholders and support their respective roles.

Job Requirements

The Finance Director should have accurate reporting skills with attention to detail, a hands-on mentality, pragmatism, proactivity, and initiative. It is important to have good influencing skills, a strong team spirit, and an open, collaborative leadership style. A curious and analytical mindset and the willingness and ability to understand all parts of the business are important.

Experience

• Managing a finance organization in a dynamic environment, ideally in a PE environment.
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
• A minimum of 7 years’ post-qualification work experience, preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Experience in external relations with banks, insurers, and auditors.
• Experience with international financial operations.
