Finance Director

Overview
Fish Brothers is a long-established, multi-franchise dealer group with over 70 years of heritage in the automotive industry. Representing 14 brands – established names to market entrants – we are proud of our reputation for excellent customer service, strong values, and a culture where everyone works together to deliver results.
We are seeking a Finance Director to join our leadership team at a pivotal moment in the Group’s development. Reporting directly to the Chairman & Group Managing Director, this role combines responsibility for financial strategy and governance with a mandate to drive digital transformation across our business.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading statutory reporting, taxation, financial planning, and audit processes.
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and manufacturer business planning across all dealerships.
- Managing banking relationships, covenant compliance, financial reporting, insurances, HR and IT.
- Assessing and modernising legacy systems, integrating DMS and ERP platforms, and embedding digital-first processes.
- Driving innovation through AI-led forecasting, automation, and predictive modelling.
- Overseeing IT infrastructure, cyber-security, and system refresh programmes.
- Holding regulated roles including Company Secretary, MLRO, DPO, and FCA Principal (SMF 29).
- Leading, inspiring, and developing a small, high-performing finance team.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with senior leadership experience.
- Proven track record in statutory reporting, compliance, and strategic finance.
- A forward-thinking individual with experience of delivering digital or AI-led transformation.
- Someone who thrives on balancing strategic oversight with hands-on involvement — from reconciliations and dealer composites to board-level insight.
- Automotive industry knowledge and experience with composites (Toyota/Lexus in particular) would be advantageous.
Why Fish Brothers
This is a rare opportunity to shape both the financial and digital future of one of Swindon’s most established automotive groups. You’ll join a close-knit leadership team where your work has immediate impact, and where the culture values collaboration, innovation, and rolling up sleeves when needed.
If you are a commercially sharp, digitally minded finance leader who is equally at home with transformation and technical detail and happy to “muck in” when required, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The salary for this position will be in the range of £120,000 OTE plus company car. Additional benefits include 23 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays (rising to 27 days with length of service), Birthday Leave, matched pension scheme, staff discount on products and services, cycle to work scheme, employee and customer referral schemes, employee car purchase scheme, Healthcare Cash Plan and life assurance.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
At Fish Brothers, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the customers we serve and the community we’re part of. We believe that everyone, regardless of background, identity, or experience, should feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, and we encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply — including, but not limited to, women, people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and veterans.
If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know — we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
