Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex, cross-functional technology change programmes within the Barclays Financial Assistance Strategy team, driving strategic transformation across the organisation while ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory requirements, and customer outcomes; embed a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Thought Leadership: Define, execute and continually develop the BFA change strategy in alignment with Barclays’ transformation agenda and long-term ambitions.
- Team Leadership: Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, ensuring they are properly resourced with the necessary skills and expertise to deliver project objectives; foster a high-performance culture and develop future leaders.
- Programme Delivery: Oversee end-to-end delivery of large-scale BFA change initiatives, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget, and to expected quality; manage plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Budget Management: Manage project budgets to ensure delivery within the agreed budget.
- Governance & Risk: Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards, and risk management; identify, assess and mitigate risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
- Stakeholder Management up to C-Suite: Communicate with senior management, project teams, and external partners to keep stakeholders informed and ensure their needs and expectations are met.
- Change Management: Facilitate training and communication to ensure successful implementation and embedding of change projects.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Champion adoption of emerging technologies and agile methodologies to enhance delivery, operational effectiveness and customer value.
Required / Desired Skills & Experience
- Proven track record delivering complex change programmes in a regulated environment (preferably financial services).
- Experience in Collections and Recoveries for large-scale financial or professional services firms is desirable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Deep understanding of change management, digital transformation, and enterprise architecture.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills with experience managing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in programme governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
Purpose of the role
To manage and develop existing and new products and/or services; ownership of related customer and colleague journeys; develops product strategy, drives change through Barclays execution teams, makes key decisions in the product lifecycle and owns associated outcomes for customers, colleagues and the bank, achieved through appropriate service level agreements, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls.
Accountabilities
- Develop customer-level strategies and solutions tailored to customers’ needs.
- Subject Matter Expert in the applicable Product/Proposition team; guide and advise stakeholders at all levels on the application of existing and new products/propositions and related journeys.
- Develop product propositions or service strategy; define priorities and lead execution of priorities.
- Develop different commercial and business models with understanding of financial drivers of the P&L for the relevant segment/ proposition/ journey.
- Evaluate technical feasibility, legal compliance, and potential risks of new product development and launch.
- Monitor market trends and gather feedback to identify improvement areas; refine product/process before launch.
- Manage launch plans and technical deployments, including rollout timelines, marketing strategies, training initiatives and communications.
- Monitor metrics such as adoption, usage, customer satisfaction, and revenue to assess performance against goals.
Director Expectations
- Lead a business function or large team; influence policy and procedures; plan and manage multiple complex strategic projects.
- Provide expert advice to senior management and committees; influence decisions outside of own function.
- Manage resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function; escalate breaches of policies; foster compliance and regulatory adherence.
- Engage with regulators, external groups, and ensure alignment with Barclays’ objectives.
- Demonstrate broad knowledge of industry practices and external developments; apply interpretative thinking and advanced analytics to solve complex problems.
- Exercise management authority for significant decisions; negotiate with stakeholders at senior levels; act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts.
- Be a spokesperson for the function and business division.
