To ensure continued adherence to financial and administrative regulatory requirements, we are seeking a Financial Director/Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA) to join our team.


Role Overview:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the firm complies with its financial regulatory obligations under the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of financial management within a legal framework, and excellent communication skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and ensure financial stability within the firm.
  • Monitor financial transactions to detect and prevent breaches of regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper use of client funds.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and other senior management to develop and implement compliance strategies.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on financial compliance matters.
  • Report any significant breaches or financial risks to the SRA in a timely manner.
  • Keep up to date with changes in relevant financial regulations and implement necessary policy updates.
  • Ensure the firm’s financial policies and procedures are effectively communicated and adhered to.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Financial Director or COFA in a similar role within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and financial compliance within the legal sector.
  • Relevant qualifications in finance, accounting, or legal compliance (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
