Job Title: Multi-Site Engineering Director - Defence
Location: UK (England & Scotland)
Salary: £150,000 - £170,000 basic

Brazen are partnering with a leading multi-national manufacturer supplying critical products into the defence sector. We are seeking a senior Engineering Leader to take full ownership of the company's UK sites, driving engineering strategy, operational excellence, and long-term success. This is a high-profile role with real influence over multi-site operations, providing the opportunity to shape processes, culture, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all engineering operations across multiple UK sites, ensuring consistent standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Develop and execute the engineering strategy to support growth, innovation, and operational excellence across mechanical, electrical, and control systems (M&E).
• Oversee capital projects, facility upgrades, and maintenance programs to maximise uptime and reliability.
• Build, mentor, and lead high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring skills development and succession planning.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating lean principles, reliability-centred maintenance, and best-in-class engineering practices.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across operations, production, and supply chain to deliver commercial and operational objectives.
• Monitor engineering KPIs, budgets, and performance metrics, implementing corrective action where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, health, safety, and defence-specific requirements across sites.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as an Engineering Director or senior multi-site Engineering Manager within a manufacturing environment, ideally supporting defence or high-specification sectors.
• Strong M&E expertise, with experience across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-site operations and large engineering teams.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to influence senior leadership and drive operational change.
• Strong financial acumen, budget management, and experience delivering cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly across UK sites.
