We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Group Managing Director to lead two well-established and growing businesses operating at the forefront of advanced construction and specialist manufacturing. Reporting directly to the Owner/CEO, this role offers a unique opportunity to deliver the strategy, drive growth, and embed innovation across a diverse group.The Group comprises a specialist manufacturing business producing innovative systems for use in high specification environments, serving numerous high-growth sectors such as data centres, energy, and pharmaceuticals, amongst others. Alongside this, the construction division is a specialist installation and fit-out contractor, delivering complex projects across similar markets.Key Responsibilities- Lead strategy execution and hold divisional leadership accountable for performance.- Drive operational efficiency, automation, and digitalisation across the group.- Ensure strong financial performance with full P&L accountability.- Develop high-performing teams and succession plans.- Expand market presence in critical sectors in the UK and overseas- Act as a visible ambassador with customers, partners, and stakeholders.Candidate ProfileProven track record of growing businesses and delivering change as MD/Group MDStrong organisational, financial, and commercial acumen. Intellectual capacity to quickly learn what you need toExperience in manufacturing innovative products and/or specialist installation and sub-contracting would be particularly useful. But beyond that, we’re open to those with experience in leadership roles in other B2B products and servicesExperience across a range of business sizes and ownership structures from SME to PE to large corporate, would be useful, bringing the best from all worldsComfortable with accountability, direct communication, and evidence-based decision making.Forward-thinking, with enthusiasm for technology, digitalisation, automation, and innovation.Based within a reasonable commuting distance of South West England or open to relocation. Living in or near Cardiff, Bath, Gloucester, or Swindon would be ideal.This is a senior leadership role within a well-financed, long-established, privately owned group.
