Interim Compliance Director – Insurance

My client is an exceptional Insurance Brokerage based in the City of London with representatives worldwide. An opportunity has arisen for a compliance professional with mid to senior experience (6+ years, with 10–15 years ideal) to join in a brand-new role and support the General Counsel (Head of Compliance). You will be, in effect, in charge of Compliance, allowing the GC to concentrate on legal matters. There is a strong chance that the role could become permanent if things go well.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Compliance function in support of the General Counsel.
• Ensure adherence to FCA requirements within the insurance industry.
• Develop, implement and monitor compliance programs and controls.
• Provide practical, business-focused compliance guidance to the brokerage and its representatives.
• Be prepared to perform hands-on compliance work with minimal administrative support.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of generalist Compliance experience within Insurance (ideally a brokerage) or proven knowledge of the Lloyds Market.
• Strong technical knowledge of FCA requirements within the insurance industry.
• Self-aware and keen to learn; proactive and collaborative mindset.
• Smart, professional appearance and demeanor.
• Traditional qualities such as punctuality, politeness and effort.
• Comfort with limited compliance administration support and willingness to roll up sleeves.
