Interim Director of Financial Control - UK & Ireland

London (Hybrid) | Start ASAP | Contract until circa February 2026

We're supporting a leading global organisation in their search for an Interim Director of Financial Control to provide stability and leadership through year-end while a permanent appointment is being made.

This is a pivotal role within a dynamic and collaborative UK&I finance function - ideal for an experienced financial controller or finance director who is comfortable operating in complex environments and can balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery.

The brief:

Reporting directly to the UK&I CFO, you will be responsible for:

  • Financial reporting and control: Overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all submissions.
  • Audit management: Partnering with external auditors to ensure a well-managed and efficient year-end audit process in January.
  • Balance sheet and risk: Maintaining the accuracy and transparency of the UK&I balance sheet, and leading improvements in reconciliations, controls, and governance.
  • Team leadership: Guiding and supporting a 25-person team across controllership, revenue, treasury, and tax, ensuring clarity, stability, and engagement throughout the transition period.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Acting as a key member of the UK&I finance leadership team, collaborating with Group, Audit, and Commercial Finance colleagues to deliver shared goals.

About you:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent), ideally with Big 4 experience.
  • Experienced in leading financial control, audit, and reporting within large, complex organisations.
  • Skilled at operating at senior level, with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Calm under pressure, delivery-oriented, and collaborative - able to bring structure and reassurance through year-end.

This is an immediate opportunity for a senior finance professional available to start as soon as possible, with a contract expected to run through February 2026 to support the audit period.

If you're an experienced finance leader who values accuracy, teamwork, and integrity - and you're ready to provide steady leadership through transition, please apply or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
