Interim Director of Financial Control - UK & Ireland

We're supporting a leading global organisation in their search for an Interim Director of Financial Control to provide stability and leadership through year-end while a permanent appointment is being made.
This is a pivotal role within a dynamic and collaborative UK&I finance function - ideal for an experienced financial controller or finance director who is comfortable operating in complex environments and can balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery.
The brief:
Reporting directly to the UK&I CFO, you will be responsible for:
- Financial reporting and control: Overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all submissions.
- Audit management: Partnering with external auditors to ensure a well-managed and efficient year-end audit process in January.
- Balance sheet and risk: Maintaining the accuracy and transparency of the UK&I balance sheet, and leading improvements in reconciliations, controls, and governance.
- Team leadership: Guiding and supporting a 25-person team across controllership, revenue, treasury, and tax, ensuring clarity, stability, and engagement throughout the transition period.
- Stakeholder engagement: Acting as a key member of the UK&I finance leadership team, collaborating with Group, Audit, and Commercial Finance colleagues to deliver shared goals.
About you:
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent), ideally with Big 4 experience.
- Experienced in leading financial control, audit, and reporting within large, complex organisations.
- Skilled at operating at senior level, with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Calm under pressure, delivery-oriented, and collaborative - able to bring structure and reassurance through year-end.
This is an immediate opportunity for a senior finance professional available to start as soon as possible, with a contract expected to run through February 2026 to support the audit period.
