We’re seeking an experienced leader to step into the role of Interim Homes Director and make an immediate impact.
We’re looking for an Interim Homes Director for circa 6 months, whilst we recruit to the permanent role, who shares our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and who wants to help shape a future where everyone feels they belong.
The role:
As Interim Homes Director, you’ll lead the strategic direction of our homes directorate including property and compliance, new development and zero carbon, ensuring our homes are not only safe and sustainable but also reflect the diverse needs of our communities. You’ll work collaboratively with residents, partners, and stakeholders to shape services that reflect our values and deliver real impact. As a member of our Executive Team, you’ll help shape Brighter Places’ future, championing innovation, inclusion, and a culture where everyone can thrive.
This is a hybrid role, with a mix of office-based work in Bristol and remote working. We’re committed to flexible working that supports wellbeing and work-life balance.

Although not an exhaustive list, key responsibilities include:
- Leading the asset, development, repairs and zero carbon teams to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable homes.
- Acting as the senior accountable person for building safety and landlord compliance, ensuring all homes are safe and accessible for everyone.
- Developing and implementing strategic plans that improve performance and deliver value for money, while addressing the diverse needs of our communities.
- Engaging with customers from all backgrounds to shape services that reflect their lived experiences and aspirations.
- Identifying and evaluating new business and partnership opportunities that support inclusive growth and community sustainability.
- Representing Brighter Places externally, building strong, diverse networks and championing our values in every interaction.

For this role we are looking for individuals who have:
- Experience at senior executive level in housing or a similar environment, with a strong understanding of inclusive asset management and development.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, influence, and develop high-performing, diverse teams.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a commitment to inclusive decision-making and equitable outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse communities.
- A collaborative and values-driven approach, with a deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- The ability to travel independently to meet the needs of our communities.
