We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management Alternatives for an Investment Associate Director, NAV Financing Strategy. The NAV Financing Partnership Strategy investment team provides alternative strategic capital against Private Equity portfolios and assets. This may take the form of financing against PE Fund portfolios, to LPs of PE portfolios or directly to PE GPs / Sponsors.

In This Role You Will

  • Assessment and analysis of alternative credit transactions (NAV loans) for recommendation to Investment Committee and ongoing monitoring of the portfolio.
  • Build relationships with debt advisors, market peers, and internal teams within HSBC Bank to best position the Fund for transactions.
  • Review and assess the underlying portfolio composition (portfolio companies, Fund LP positions or other collateral pools, GP co-invest positions, fees and carry) and lead the transaction analysis process with Associates and Analysts within the investment team.
  • Review fund reports, business plans, third party due diligence reports (financial, commercial, legal and tax structuring reports) and other bespoke diligence (ESG, etc.), and build/test assumptions of financial models with a focus on the underlying cashflow profile of each deal.
  • Collaborate with the internal Operations team to ensure efficient day-to-day running of the Fund, including oversight of LP drawdowns, facility funding, cashflow reconciliation and related matters.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A deep understanding of Fund Finance / GP solutions, specifically NAV loans or GP financings, is essential.
  • Experience in alternative credit, leveraged finance, structured finance or similar with direct exposure to Financial Sponsors / Private Equity portfolios is essential.
  • A highly developed level of commercial acumen and transaction execution, with awareness of procedural and regulatory issues.
  • Strong analytical skills from working with financial models and understanding investment appraisal fundamentals.
  • Experience building effective relationships with a varied stakeholder base (financial sponsors, debt advisors and internal counterparties) that engenders a trusted-partner status.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex information to wide and varied audiences.

Location and Travel

This role is based in London and will require some travel.
