LOCATION: Blackburn
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 - £37,050 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced journalist to deliver news bulletins with authority, personality and warmth. You'll also be part of the on-air team, which could include participating in chats or delivering breaking news and 2-ways. You may also be required to report on stories and be comfortable creating content for our website, audio and television services. You'll need to have a great voice, be editorially strong and have bags of creativity.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Produce and present BBC Radio Lancashire's weekday morning bulletins and BBC Sounds bulletins.
- Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
- Keep colleagues across the BBC - including online, social media, TV and national radio - in the loop about any breaking stories.
- Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Significant recent experience of reading live radio bulletins.
- Sound editorial and policy decisions based upon a clear understanding of the BBC's news agenda, the requirements of news and current affairs coverage and the audience.
- Strong writing skills to tell and sell our stories in the best way possible.
- Strong Broadcast voice.
- A commitment to improving diversity in the BBC and understands how individual differences can benefit the BBC.
- Understands how a team works effectively.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Optimo trained for online writing.
- Mojo trained.
- Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
