Overview Of The Role

The EUNA Region (EUNA) is recruiting a new Managing Director (Unit General Manager internally) for our Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) Unit to provide leadership and strategic direction to their respective business areas and across the EUNA region. The APD unit provides leadership of project, programme and commercial management (PPCM) services, alongside specialist and strategic advisory services, across all sectors for the EUNA region, including the built environment, defence, energy, water, environment, transportation, health and social care. We have around 1400 colleagues in our APD team at the moment. The UGM role will report to the Regional General Manager (RGM) and will be expected to deliver and embed all Group, Regional and Market Strategies within their Units. They will be responsible for establishing a sound knowledge of the market environment in which they operate, building relationships with key clients, winning and delivery of projects and the leadership of their teams. The UGM’s will be a member of the EUNA Executive Team and will be expected to act as an ambassador and voice for Mott MacDonald within the EUNA Region, articulating and representing the brand, vision and value proposition.

Key Responsibilities And Duties Include

• Strategy & Operations: Provide strategic guidance and direction to ensure the Unit’s ambition aligns to and contributes to the group and regional strategies
• Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop and communicate unit business plans, strategic objectives and budgets
• Develop and lead Mott MacDonald’s win and do operations within the appointed Unit
• Grow and nurture external relationships and build and maintain networks with clients, business partners and competitors, driving joint initiatives where appropriate
• Collaborate with other Units, Regions and Markets, representing the brand, ambition and value proposition
• Investigate, analyse and manage risks, market opportunities, and the competitive landscape to prepare and deliver Unit strategic plans
• Support Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads to win and deliver projects and programmes following STEP processes and BMS requirements
• Act as a role model for Health, Safety and Wellbeing for the Unit
• Review performance and monitor progress against KPIs
• Ensure the Unit achieves its objectives and optimises financial performance and productivity
• Accountable for Unit budgets and continual improvement in project performance

• Leadership of enabling functions within the unit (HR, Commercial, Business Development, Win, Technical Excellence, Digital & Operational Management)

• Experience of managing teams and/or operational or functional business areas
• Strategic leader with knowledge of relevant markets and key clients
• Excellent leadership skills to motivate, engage and inspire
• Effective team builder delivering exceptional client service
• Strong collaboration skills to work with others
• Great communicator who can listen, support and direct the Unit
