Overview

Managing Director - Water and Environment role at Mott MacDonald. The EUNA Region (EUNA) is recruiting a new Managing Director (Unit General Manager) for the Water and Environment (WNE) Unit to provide leadership and strategic direction for WNE across the EUNA region. The UGM reports to the Regional General Manager (RGM) and will deliver and embed Group, Regional and Market Strategies within their Unit. They will establish market knowledge, build relationships with key clients, win and deliver projects, and lead their teams. The UGM will be a member of the EUNA Executive Team and act as an ambassador for Mott MacDonald within the EUNA Region, representing the brand, vision and value proposition.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Operations: Provide strategic guidance to align the Unit with group and regional strategies; develop and communicate unit business plans, objectives and budgets; lead win and do operations; nurture external relationships with clients, partners and competitors; collaborate with other Units, Regions and Markets; investigate risks and market opportunities to feed into Unit, Regional and Market plans; support Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads to win and deliver projects while following STEP processes and BMS requirements; act as a health, safety and wellbeing role model; review performance against KPIs; optimise financial performance and productivity through innovation and digital tools; manage Unit budgets.
  • Culture and People: Lead Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads; oversee enabling functions (HR, Commercial, Business Development, Win, Technical Excellence, Digital & Operational Management); foster an empowered, inclusive environment; support career development and succession planning; uphold ethical standards and zero tolerance for unacceptable behaviours.
  • Collaboration: Be part of the EUNA Executive Team, drive continuous improvement, champion Region objectives, and build relationships to support Unit and Region growth.

Candidate specification

Essential
  • Experience of managing teams and/or operational or functional business areas
  • Strategic leader with strong knowledge of relevant markets and key clients
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, engage and inspire
  • Effective team builder delivering exceptional client service
  • Collaborative and able to work with others; strong communication skills
