Managing Director – Food Manufacturing

Location: Birmingham

Salary: Circa £115 - 135k / Negotiable

Are you a proven leader in the food manufacturing industry with a strong operational and supply chain background? Our client, a successful and growing food manufacturing business, is seeking a hands-on Managing Director to drive operational excellence, streamline manufacturing processes, and strengthen supply chain performance.

The Role

As Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the business, with a particular focus on manufacturing efficiency, supply chain optimisation, and operational performance. You will work closely with the leadership team to ensure the business continues to deliver high-quality products, meets customer expectations, and drives continuous improvement across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership with a strong emphasis on operations, supply chain, and manufacturing.
• Drive efficiency, cost control, and best practice within a food production environment.
• Oversee end-to-end supply chain processes, ensuring robust planning, procurement, and distribution.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the operational and manufacturing teams to deliver on business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and industry regulations.
• Partner with the board to align operational delivery with the long-term vision of the business.

The Person

We are looking for a manufacturing and supply chain-led leader, not a commercially led profile.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• A strong background in food manufacturing, operations, and supply chain management.
• Proven track record in leading teams and delivering results within a fast-paced, regulated environment.
• Experience of driving operational performance, implementing process improvements, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• A pragmatic, hands-on approach to leadership – willing to be close to the detail as well as strategic.
