Accent are currently looking to recruit to a Non-Executive Director to sit on both the Group Board and Capital Investment Committee, in line with the approved succession plan and who will continue to build on Accent’s success, offering strategic oversight, expert insight and constructive challenge to ensure Accent delivers now and for the future. A diverse customer perspective is also important, so Accent would also like to encourage applications from those with lived experience of social housing, or a similar customer experience, from younger people and other under-represented groups.
The Capital Investment Committee is responsible for monitoring the delivery of Accent’s Development and Growth and Asset Management Strategies, as well as overseeing the operational and financial performance of the annual development programme. A key element of the committee’s work is the strategic oversight of the investment in Accent’s asset base, underpinned by great data and linked with customer insight.
Core responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the development of Accent’s strategic approach to Development, Growth and Asset Management, including the effective planning of investment
- Monitoring the delivery of Accent’s Development and Growth and Asset Management Strategies including overseeing investment towards achieving zero carbon and matters relating to sustainability.
- Overseeing the operational and financial performance of the annual development programme.
- Approval of development schemes in line with the Group's strategy.
- Oversight of the operational and financial performance of the annual Asset Planned Investment Programme including responsive maintenance
- Review new business opportunities, including Joint Ventures, and recommend to the Board for approval.
- To consider all programme bids in accordance with Accent’s long-term financial plans including grant and non-grant funded programmes and to recommend these to the Board.
Accent is looking to appoint Non-Executive Directors with the following attributes:
- Strong understanding of strategic asset management in a social housing context is essential.
- Strong knowledge of the social housing sector, including current regulations.
- Experience at a senior level of development, asset management and investment programmes with a national scope.
- Knowledge and understanding of development finance.
- Understanding of the key development risks and opportunities for a Registered Provider in the current and anticipated operating environment and what constitutes adequate risk assurance.
- Data driven approach, and the understanding of the importance of this to the sector and the remit of the position.
- Excellent stakeholder management and engagement capabilities.
Time commitment:
- Board meets six times per year with a mixture of in person meetings (Peterborough and Bradford) and virtual meetings.
- Committees meet approximately 6 times a year in addition to the main Board.
- Where required additional meetings may be held to support the organisation with its business and Strategy days are held twice per year for all NED’s.
- The annual commitment for a Board Member NED is likely to be around 15 days.
- Meetings are held across Bradford, Peterborough and other locations. All applicants must have the capacity and availability to travel.
Remuneration:
- Board member - £9,200 per annum
- Reasonable expenses are reimbursed, and training opportunities are provided.
