This is an exciting opportunity to join us as Chair of the Nominations & Succession Committee / Board Member (HR & Talent). You will bring your proven expertise in human resources management and succession planning to provide strategic guidance, specialist advice, and constructive challenge to the executive management team.

Responsibilities

The Nominations Committee is established by the Board of Directors to help ensure that Plane Saver Credit Union maintains a balanced, skilled, and effective Board. Its responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the Board retains the appropriate mix of skills and experience to support the organisation’s strategic objectives.
  • Overseeing a formal, rigorous, and transparent process for appointing Non-Executive Directors.
  • Maintaining an effective framework for succession planning, talent management, and the associated administrative processes that underpin these.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with significant track record in the following areas:

  • Human‑resources management
  • Recruitment & selection (including senior management / Non‑Executive Director appointments)
  • Learning & development (L&D)
  • Organisation design & development (OD & D)
  • Succession planning & talent pipelines
  • Governance, ethics & conduct in people matters

Your specialist knowledge will provide the Board with valuable insights. You will bring a degree of objectivity, impartiality, a breadth of experience to the Board’s deliberations, and play a valuable role in monitoring the performance of the Executive Management team.

Time

You will be required to attend Board, and relevant Committee meetings, plus occasional training sessions which equates to initially around 10‑15 hours per month reducing to about 6‑10 hours per month. These are a combination of face‑to‑face (currently once per quarter for Board meetings) or via Zoom. In addition, you will be asked to contribute your expertise to specific projects.

Your role as a Non‑Executive Director (NED) includes:

  1. Strategic Direction – Monitor and assess external developments including economic, regulatory, technological and market trends that could influence Plane Saver’s strategic risks and opportunities. Note: Some strategic matters may be considered initially by Board sub‑committees before full Board approval.
  2. Performance Monitoring – Take responsibility for overseeing the performance of the executive management team, especially regarding progress toward the organisation’s strategy and objectives.
  3. External Engagement & Representation – Leverage your networks to connect Plane Saver with valuable experts and organisations. Act as an ambassador for the credit union, promoting its purpose, values and services externally.
  4. Risk Oversight – Satisfy yourself that financial information is reliable and that all controls and systems for risk‑management are robust and effective.
  5. Audit & Financial Integrity – Together with fellow Board members, ensure that the accounts fairly reflect our financial performance. Confirm that robust internal‑control systems are in place and are reviewed on a regular and rigorous basis.
  6. Resource & Leadership Planning – Help ensure that the human and financial resources required to meet objectives are available. Oversee the recruitment, selection, appointment, and removal of the CEO and Non‑Executive Directors, plus succession planning for senior roles.
