The Opportunity: Senior Account Director, OOH Planning — You will be at the heart of client relationships, planning and delivering best-in-class OOH solutions for a portfolio of WPP Media OOH’s agencies and clients, ensuring exceptional service, strategic insight, and commercial growth. This role demands deep OOH expertise, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to innovation. You will manage campaigns, inspire your team, and contribute to the wider success of WPP Media OOH.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Client & Agency Leadership: Serve as the primary lead contact for planning OOH solutions, working closely with clients, agencies, and media owners to plan and execute campaigns.
  • Ensure the team consistently delivers the highest level of service, meeting agreed criteria and KPIs for all clients and agencies.
  • Build and maintain excellent rapport and relationships with key media owners, ensuring optimal value and target adherence.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of vendor news and activity, providing informed perspectives to clients and internal teams.
  • Proactively identify and resolve challenging client issues, ensuring smooth operations and client satisfaction.
  • Innovate and develop new ways of servicing client and agency needs, delegating responsibilities effectively within the team.
  • Place creativity at the forefront of our offering, promoting data-led planning via Aureus and driving innovation and technology in OOH solutions.
  • Play a significant role in client audits, collaborating closely with the Trading and Investment teams.
  • Commercial Growth & Operational Excellence: Drive the adoption of all WPP Media OOH's offerings, including specialist business units (SBUs), communicating benefits to agencies and clients to generate revenue.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth, actively seeking ways to drive additional revenue.
  • Ensure the team consistently adheres to service charters and booking systems, maintaining up-to-date campaign records.
  • Demonstrate expert use of all WPP Media OOH and industry tools and systems, providing training and enhancing processes where applicable.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of WPP Media OOH’s 4D planning philosophy, ensuring its consistent application by team members and full utilization of the planning process.
  • Promote and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and agencies to educate on the benefits of converging OOH with mobile, digital, social, and other media.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate, and inspire your team to deliver effective OOH solutions for clients.
  • Oversee and actively develop Account Directors, Senior Account Managers, and Account Managers, fostering growth and capabilities.
  • Act as a mentor and sounding board for more junior staff, leading by example and positively motivating the team.
  • Contribute to wider WPP Media OOH initiatives, including training, forums, agency projects, tool development, and events.
  • Participate in WPP Media OOH initiatives such as All In Groups and company events.
  • Embrace an agile approach, working across the wider WPP Media OOH business as required.

  • Capable of navigating between strategic thinking and meticulous day-to-day detail.
  • Commercially astute and actively contributes to business objectives.
  • Demonstrates excellent multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen to continuously grow and learn, leveraging training opportunities provided by WPP Media OOH and external providers.
  • Confident, engaging, positive, and open to possibilities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Demonstrable success in a media planning environment for at least 5 years.
  • Strong understanding and proficient use of MS Office / Windows (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Confidence in using internal technical tools, with an aptitude for quickly adapting to new technology and systems (strong digital/technical skills).
  • Excellent understanding of social media and internet trends.
  • Desirable: GCSEs (Grade 6/B or above) in English Language and Maths, A-Levels or equivalent, and a university degree.
