OverviewOperations Director – Design Management - Private Sector at Mace. This role leads the design management assurance for a client’s capital projects in the region, supporting the bank’s engineering team and acting as the engineering standards interface between Mace and delivery partners.ResponsibilitiesLead the design management sub-function accountable for performance, delivering an annual business plan outcomes to time and budget.Deliver design management to achieve key strategic outcomes & sub-function KPIs, influencing strategic development.Manage key client relationships, including generating live prospects and leads.Implement and execute the design management system, processes and protocols to meet statutory, legal, and contractual requirements.Mentor, coach, and develop project teams; foster knowledge sharing and professional development.Network, innovate, and utilise the depth of knowledge across Mace Group, Centres of Excellence, and Knowledge Hub.Identify talent, lead recruitment, and manage development, retention, and mobility of people.Safety, Quality and StandardsAdvocate Safety First and be accountable for safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and compliance standards for the design resources managed.Maintain advanced technical expertise in local Health and Safety regulations relevant to the project portfolio.Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and prioritise wellbeing of the people managed.QualificationsA degree in engineering, architecture, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Extensive professional design management experience with a focus on engineering building services and retrofit.Ideally experience in the commercial/private sector, with clients in banking/finance as highly valued.You’ll Also HaveMembership of professional bodies such as CIBSE, CIOB, ARB, RIBA, MICE, RICS, CIAT or equivalent.Knowledge of MEPH systems in listed buildings and retrofit projects.Experience managing relationships with senior stakeholders.Extensive experience delivering projects and programmes through all stages.Knowledge of statutory regulations including building, fire, planning and listed building consent.Experience working with statutory utilities.Leadership and management experience with large, diverse teams.Understanding of how carbon and sustainability considerations shape project outlook.Confidence working with digital design and management software.Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates.
