Job Description Summary

Strategically leads, oversees and manages pipeline and pre-launch activities in medical affairs. Ensures appropriate assessment and input starting from pre-phase 3 to ensure appropriate engagement, evidence and environment shaping at a country level. Manages a team of head office and field-based medical associates working on pipeline activity.

This is a London office based role with hybrid working which means 12 days per month in the office.

Major accountabilities

  • Leadership and culture: Manages head-office and field based medical affairs pipeline team. Effective cross-functional leadership. Model and instill culture, values and behaviours. Enterprise leadership and customer focus.

  • Leads cross-functional launch leadership team along with value & access (pipeline and HEOR) directors and part of country medical leadership team

  • Excellence in pre-launch activities including clinical engagement, evidence planning and delivery, and system shaping

  • Ensures country medical input to regional and global development and pre-launch processes

  • Impact and inform the Integrated Product Strategy (IPS), Integrated Evidence Generation Plans, launch excellence roadmap, Patient Journey and medical strategies.

  • Generate and implement disruptive and innovative ideas and solutions to positively impact healthcare systems.

Requirements

  • Medical Qualification and GMC registered, pharmacist or life science graduate

  • Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Medical Affairs although relevant Clinical Development or Market Access experience may be considered

  • UK experience in launching new products and indications and evidence generation

  • UK experience and strong understanding of the NHS and UK healthcare and drug development system

  • Strong matrix leadership and influencing skills

  • Deep knowledge of clinical development, evidence generation and UK access environment

  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare systems and external stakeholder engagement
