Town Planning Director – Infrastructure & Renewables (Birmingham & Midlands) We’re working with a leading national consultancy to appoint a Planning Director to lead and grow their infrastructure practice across the Midlands. This is a unique opportunity to take charge of high-profile energy and infrastructure projects while establishing and mentoring a high-performing team in Birmingham.
As Planning Director, you’ll: Build and lead a Midlands-based team focused on infrastructure and energy planning. Oversee a varied portfolio covering renewables, hydrogen, energy storage, carbon capture, transport, water, waste, and ports. Drive business development and strengthen relationships with clients across Birmingham, the wider Midlands, and nationally. Take a senior role in succession planning for the consultancy’s national infrastructure practice. Collaborate with colleagues across different technical disciplines to deliver integrated solutions on complex schemes.
About You A strong track record in energy and infrastructure projects, ideally including DCO, NSIP or TWAO consents. Proven leadership experience building, developing, and mentoring teams. RTPI membership and excellent knowledge of planning processes. Strong commercial awareness and client management skills. The confidence to lead on significant, high-profile projects.
