GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business provides energy conversion & storage technologies, systems, and services across the power and energy-intensive industries, driving the electric transformation of the world’s energy and industrial infrastructure. In North Europe, the business designs, builds, installs and commissions solutions across the Marine and Industrial sectors. It quotes and delivers tens of large, multi-year programs, and hundreds of smaller programs at any one time.

Reporting to the Power Conversion & Storage North Europe Business Operations Director, the PMO Director will build on the existing PMO to align it to the strategic goals of the North Europe business, and the Global PMO vision. The PMO Director will be accountable for building, guiding and developing the PMO team, focusing on process, practices, behaviors and culture. They will support the Project Management and Planning & Controls teams in their continued successful delivery of inflight projects and programs. Key focus areas will include quality, cost and risk management across the project lifecycle from bid to delivery. Success will be seen by an improvement in ROI, volume of projects delivering on time and to budget, and controlled risk exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • In a matrix management environment, lead and support the delivery teams in successful project delivery.
  • Ensure that the project portfolio is effectively resourced and prioritized, aligned to strategic goals; incorporate risk management, lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement activity to improve delivery capabilities.
  • Establish visibility to the project portfolio through visual management at project, portfolio and enterprise levels; drive project and program reporting, and establish KPIs to monitor delivery performance.
  • Complete portfolio governance reviews at appropriate milestones, manage escalations, and ensure governance policy and process are fit for purpose; establish an assurance framework for strategic programs.
  • Develop and coach the delivery team, supporting growth and development opportunities.
  • Lead continuous improvement in collaboration with delivery teams and share best practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of processes and tools to drive project delivery excellence.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in designing, implementing and leading a Portfolio Management Office in a large organization.
  • Hands-on experience as a delivery manager at a program level, familiar with project delivery methodologies (e.g., Prince2, Agile, PMP).
  • Proven ability to operationalize a vision and move it from paper to action.
  • Proven experience leading change in a large, diverse organization.
  • Comfortable with business/project tools (e.g., MS Office, Primavera P6, PMP tools).
  • Skilled in process re-engineering across the full value chain.
  • Strong and empathetic leader who can inspire and coach teams to perform at their best.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong listening ability.
  • Effective organizational abilities; able to manage multiple demands and priorities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management in a matrix structure.
  • Curious with a desire to understand, interpret, resolve and improve processes.
