Make an Impact within our Private Client Tax team at RSM UK

Our Private Client Team works with individuals, trustees, partnerships, sole traders, and family businesses in managing their tax affairs, both on the compliance side and in relation to additional advisory matters. We collaborate closely with colleagues across the firm to provide a comprehensive service to owner-managed businesses and family offices, combining expertise in accounting, audit, and relevant taxes.

As an Associate Director within the Private Client Tax team in Edinburgh or Glasgow, you will adopt a strategic and commercial approach to managing and developing client relationships and leading diverse advisory projects. You will ensure high-quality service delivery to a range of clients while managing a team, including reviewing work, providing training and development, workforce planning, and fostering a positive, inclusive culture aligned with RSM values. You will work with partners and colleagues on planning projects, technical assignments, and business development opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Maintaining existing client relationships and acting as the first contact for potential and new clients; generating and converting work with support from Directors and Partners.
  2. Leading advisory and technical projects.
  3. Collaborating with partners to develop new business and strengthen existing relationships.
  4. Mentoring and developing junior team members.
  5. Building relationships with other departments to identify and service potential client needs.
  6. Briefing junior staff on client business and instructions, supervising work completion, and providing on-the-job training.

  1. CTA and/or ACA qualification, or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong understanding of tax issues relating to private clients.
  3. Experience in client handling and project management.
  4. Ability to lead advisory projects and produce high-quality reports within budget.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Experience managing a portfolio of personal tax compliance and advisory projects, with confidence in relationship development.
  7. Interest in mentoring and developing junior staff.
