About the job
Kent is looking for a Project Director to be based in Aberdeen to support opportunities within our UK Projects business. We seek high-calibre individuals with talent, enthusiasm, and drive to influence and join our expansion plans as we grow Kent’s offshore projects portfolio in Aberdeen and the wider UK. The role is hands-on during this growth period, requiring collaboration and a long-term career commitment within a high-performing team; it involves developing key interfaces when dealing with multi-functional or multi-disciplinary activities.
Skills & Responsibilities
- Closely interfaces with Business Development to establish operations guidelines for opportunities and represent project groups in client interactions.
- Leads and manages active offshore tenders including stakeholder engagement (clients, supply chain and external).
- Oversees and manages the successful execution of offshore tenders before mobilising the project, including estimation, development, negotiation, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within scope, and on budget, while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring projects comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Manage the initial mobilisation of the core project team with actions assigned, timescales agreed, and needs communicated to relevant parties.
- Accountable for the entire project budget and contract; coordinate activities for initiation, execution, and close-out within schedule and contractual requirements.
- Support and lead existing and future bids (mainly offshore) with delivery in bid and execution phases, interfacing with clients and initiating start-up.
- Approves the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and subsidiary coordination procedures; supports audits where necessary.
- Provide interface with the Estimating and Proposals group to lead tender packages in collaboration with the Global E&P group.
- Interface with the CCS group and Centre of Excellence to establish optimisations and key engineering parameters for EPC-based projects.
- Establish mechanisms and processes for external and internal progress monitoring and reporting against the project plan.
- Contribute to improving efficiency in the delivery of projects across Kent.
- Work with discipline teams to source projects.
- Manage projects in accordance with Kent procedures and best practice.
In addition to the responsibilities listed, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed, within the reasonable scope of skills and role. This provides flexibility to meet dynamic needs while supporting professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or similar) at minimum; Master’s degree preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies, risk management, and safety standards in onshore and offshore environments.
- Chartered status preferred. Significant related project management experience in Oil & Gas engineering/ client organisations.
- Professional project management qualification (APMP, PMI or similar) or appropriate experience in a project management role, preferably in an engineering design/consultancy environment.
Communication
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Some European language knowledge desirable but not mandatory.

- Direct and demonstrable experience applying a range of project management principles to deliver successful outcomes on engineering/technical projects.
- Able to travel to meet with internal and external stakeholders as required.
