Business Development Director or Senior Business Development Director, Core Biologic – Title will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and expertise.
Reporting to the VP Global Business Development, Core Biologics the Business Development Director will identify, qualify, and pursue business opportunities supporting the UK and Ireland Territory, including Israel.
The Role
This position has responsibility for establishing new biologics drug substance and drug product partnerships in the target territory. Success will be primarily measured by sales and revenue growth and requires a high level of technical and commercial sophistication. Target programs are early stage biologics development programs as well as later stage tech transfers with both, emerging biotech companies and establish pharma partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility to manage the business development activities for a given target territory
- Responsible for building and continued increase in the opportunity pipeline; hunter personality!
- Develop and execute on territory sales plan with the objective to achieve annual sales targets through closing of new deals.
- Identify, open, lead and close business development deals with new and existing clients; promoting company visibility, growth and profitability.
- Implement strategies aimed toward increasing revenue and market share in the target region.
- Build robust meeting / call plans for individual territories in region with specific KPIs and metrics
- Organize facility and attend site visits with prospective clients; setting agendas, coordinating team participation and leading discussions. Follow with diligent feedback and strategies to address any concerns.
- Develop, nurture and maintain a positive, constructive and trusting working relationship with members of relevant internal teams at both site locations.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelors of Science or higher, ideally in Biological Sciences.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the Biologics Industry with a technical sales focus, or 5 years experience in biologics drug substance or drug product operations experience and 1 or more years of technical sales or commercial operations.
- Proven ability to manage within a matrix organization and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Broad knowledge of the Biologics industry with a focus on:
- UK/IRL Market trends and competitive landscape
- UK/IRL Marketing and trade marketing practices
- UK/IRL Regulatory knowledge is an advantage
- Competitive selling strategies
- Strong hunting and prospecting skills
- Deal closing skills
