The Role

The Senior Director, Finance Process and Systems is responsible for leading a team of 6 Finance Analysts focused on ensuring the widespread adoption of CN’s global Finance processes and systems. This includes providing user support and delivering initiatives to drive standardisation and improvement in line with overall Finance goals. The role reports to the London-based Executive Director Corporate Finance, Tax and Treasury.

After a multi-year transformation, CN Finance operates with a platform of global Finance systems (Workday Finance ERP, Workday Adaptive for Workforce Planning, Oracle EPM, Salesforce Sales Order Management, supplier On Boarding and Kyriba Treasury Management). The organisation is structured around Controlling and Finance Functional Business Partnering, with Finance Partners located in Bangalore, India supporting Market, Functional and HQ teams.

There are opportunities to standardise and strengthen Finance processes and systems to improve control frameworks, efficiency, cash flow, regulatory compliance, and finance reporting and planning activities. The role will partner with CN’s Technology team on Workday Finance configuration, security and integrations, and align with stakeholders to determine priorities.

The ideal candidate combines strong finance skills, systems acumen, analytical ability to drive innovation and efficiency, and program management experience. Based in London, the role offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-moving, iconic global media organisation.

What will you be doing?

Finance User Support and Workday / EPM Systems Administration

  • Provide ongoing support to Workday Finance and EPM users in conjunction with CN Technology, including first-pass analysis of issues and resolution, especially during month-end/year-end closes and budget/planning cycles
  • Collaborate with CN Technology to support Workday Finance releases and with Oracle on EPM releases, including leading testing and training prior to production deployments
  • Design and build reports and planning outputs to support Finance users
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality across systems and promote consistent use of charts of accounts and high-quality master data

Roadmap Development and Deployment

  • Support development and approval of the roadmap for future enhancements
  • Use Finance expertise to gather and analyse information to achieve business objectives and resolve issues
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of projects from discovery through implementation and post-delivery optimisation, ensuring global adoption and minimal country-specific deviations
  • Stay informed on industry trends (e.g., AI) and engage with users to identify opportunities to improve processes and systems

Finance Process and System Adoption

  • Act as a subject matter expert for all Finance processes and systems, advising on proper use of Workday and EPM
  • Develop change management strategies to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and systems
  • Develop and deliver user guides and training to enable end users and promote self-sufficiency
  • Evangelise Workday and EPM within Finance and the wider business

Finance Process Analysis

  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation using Finance knowledge
  • Collaborate with Finance users to define and document business requirements
  • Document process flows to standardise, streamline and automate activities
  • Perform benchmarking and support KPI development to track performance and identify improvements
  • Work with other Finance system owners and functions to align data, processes and systems

Team Leadership

  • Manage 6 Analysts located in the UK, US, Spain and China; set goals, provide coaching and develop capabilities
  • Review activities to maximise support to users and delivery of Finance goals
  • Contribute to improving engagement scores and staff development

Who you are

  • Strong understanding of Workday Finance ERP and familiarity with EPM (ideally Oracle EPM)
  • Significant experience in senior Finance management, consulting, or transformation roles
  • Finance qualification preferred, with post-qualification experience across Finance activities
  • Proven track record of leading Finance improvement projects across process, technology and organisation
  • Excellent skills in process mapping, design, performance measurement and optimisation
  • Experience in project environments with delivery focus and change adoption strategies
  • Experience in large matrix international organisations or equivalent
  • Comfortable partnering with in-house technical teams and software vendors
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with a willingness to engage users
