Our client - Phoenix Community Housing - is recruiting a Senior Independent Director. Created by tenants in 2007, Phoenix is a not-for-profit housing association based in South London. They own and manage more than 7600 homes in Lewisham and are building new homes with an emphasis on sustainability and high-quality design. Indeed, two recent developments were winners in the Housing Design Awards.. They are the first resident-led housing association in London and their model empowers tenants and leaseholders to take a central part in decision-making and become shareholder members. Under their rules, the Chair of the Board must be a tenant and tenants and leaseholders are currently the largest group on the management board. Residents are encouraged to get involved with Phoenix at all levels to influence services and define future priorities. It believes resident leadership is its core strength.
