Join Citi as the Services Risk & Controls Director for Digital Assets. This first-line role supports the Services business in managing and mitigating financial crime, regulatory, and reputational risks end-to-end. You will work with global and regional teams to identify emerging risks, map and assess existing controls, and ensure a robust control infrastructure that aligns with policy and regulation.
What you'll do
- Understand business-owned products and services, and the corresponding financial-crimes-related controls and processes (e.g., customer, relationship, and transactional screening).
- Provide subject matter expertise in financial crimes and regulatory risk management to ensure design and implementation of an effective control environment.
- Design and adapt the control framework to ensure robust risk management; drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure adequate mapping of risk and processes with clear control ownership; maintain a strong partnership with business heads, operations, technology and the second line of defence.
- Escalate and report control issues; support management in root-cause analysis and sustainable resolutions.
- Promote a consistent approach to Financial Crimes, Reputational, and Regulatory risk management across Services Digital Assets.
- Engage early on new business initiatives to ensure timely risk support and adherence to risk policies and procedures.
- Review control processes for alignment with policy and business expectations; ensure controls are implemented with appropriate documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of product innovation, client needs, and changing regulatory requirements to assess impact on the control environment.
- Serve as an escalation point for issues from Services Operations and Technology; monitor metrics and track corrective action plans.
- Prepare updates for senior management and governance committees; collaborate with other risk teams for a holistic risk approach.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve client experience; respond timely to regulatory inquiries.
What we'll need from you
- Significant experience in financial crime/regulatory compliance or risk management in banking and digital asset environments.
- Financial Crime certification preferred (ACAMS, ACSS, etc.).
- Strong experience in Financial Services, with focus on Digital Assets in Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk & Controls, or operations.
- Knowledge of blockchain technology and digital assets and related financial crime risks.
- Understanding of global crypto regulations and VASP licensing & compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and drive change across a global organization.
- Proven leadership and people-management skills; project management and change management capabilities.
- Analytical problem-solving with the ability to improve quality, controls, and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree desirable.
