Director – Private Capital Transactions Tax (Open to flexible working)

The Private Capital Transactions tax team works with the world’s largest private equity clients and focuses on fast-developing areas of the deals market. Our flexibility and speed to market have driven growth throughout the downturn, and we continue to recruit top talent to capitalise on current opportunities.

Your Opportunity

In this team you will gain wide-ranging experience in core transactional work – including private equity, infrastructure and clean-tech, distressed debt and turnaround transactions, and restructuring. You’ll develop a commercial understanding of what matters to clients in a deal context, with early exposure to international structuring techniques and overseas tax regimes as many transactions are cross-border.

We are expanding our Private Capital Transactions Tax team and are keen to speak with experienced Tax Advisors.

Your Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, proactively winning work and delivering high levels of client service
  • Manage the successful delivery of technically complex projects with a practical/business focus
  • Overall responsibility for quality of client service
  • Manage leads from other areas of the practice
  • Build networks and relationships internally and externally to leverage opportunities
  • Develop junior staff through supervision, coaching and mentoring
  • Involve in team strategy and operations and staff development and assignments

Experience and Skills

  • Client focus and commercially aware with strong international and UK tax technical skills
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and produce high-quality outputs
  • Negotiation skills and resilience to handle challenges
  • Business development skills and ability to identify and convert opportunities
  • Strong business acumen with ability to manage engagement financial results
  • Effective time management and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-oriented with ability to foster effective collaboration
  • Commitment to delivering quality work and day-to-day delivery
  • Flexible, innovative mindset and openness to adopting new technologies

Qualifications

  • Experienced tax practitioner with deep experience of tax transactions
  • Attained ATT / ACA / CA / CTA or equivalent breadth of knowledge (e.g., law qualification)
  • Graduate or equivalent work experience
  • Experience of managing a team and/or coaching and developing team members
  • Project management skills: plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor budgets
