New Today

Overview

What if you could shape a career as unique as you? At WSP, you can always find opportunities to grow and do what matters to you. Make the most of our global reach to discover new challenges and work with diverse, talented individuals who will help you expand your horizons.

YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT'S INVOLVED?

As a Technical Director, you'll typically be working on a variety of projects at once—from a University in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London—with plenty of international projects. All with the same goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building.

Youll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.

There is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through a variation of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start. We regularly get together for social events and we will assist the successful candidate toward professional registration via IFE and other professional organizations.

At WSP, we have multiple opportunities for our fire engineers to grow via a bespoke programme designed to provide you with both professional skills and specialist technical development opportunities. The programme is supported by our senior leadership team and is tailored to provide the support, guidance and development opportunities you need to work towards chartered status or equivalent professional qualifications. The structured programme includes but is not limited to training in:

  • Technical report writing
  • Team specific technical skills
  • Project management (introduction and advanced)
  • Influential communications
  • Commercial concepts
  • Collaborate team challenge
  • Continuous Improvement

WE\'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and extensive experience within the fire engineering consulting industry. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.
