OverviewAre you ready for the next step in your career? We are seeking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and committed Technical Director to lead a range of projects undertaken by the Catchment Science team within our Sustainable Water Management Consulting (SWMC) group, and to play a lead role in the development of the hydrogeologists within the team and in securing an ongoing pipeline of project work.Based in the UK with collaboration across WSP’s global teams, this role offers leadership of technical delivery and a strong emphasis on team development and business development in groundwater and water resources.ResponsibilitiesLead the technical delivery of projects covering all aspects of water resources hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, groundwater flooding, monitoring and groundwater qualityProvide project direction including financial and change control and quality assurance through checking and reviewingMentor and supervise junior colleagues, with opportunities for formal People Management; work with the Technical Lead in SWMC to develop a programme of hydrogeology trainingCollaborate with the team and the Hydrogeology and Groundwater Services Lead to develop and agree scopes of servicesGenerate high quality bid proposals and develop innovative solutions to meet client needsProduce high quality client- and public-facing deliverables, with strong communication and data visualisation/interpretation skillsWork collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to deliver hydrogeological components of a wide range of projectsDemonstrate a safety-first attitude in line with WSP's health and safety policyWhat we are looking forGroundwater and water resources modelling to support water resource estimation and management and environmental impact assessmentStrong understanding of UK hydrogeology and the environmental/regulatory framework of UK water managementStrong project management and direction skills, with experience of managing projects from start to finish; experience of Framework management desirableClear understanding of client needs and a track record of leading and winning workExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels and contribute to the technical development of junior staffStrong commercial awareness with experience in identifying and developing business opportunities and preparing winning proposalsExcellent report-writing, technical review, numerical and analytical skills, and the ability to solve challenging hydrogeological/hydrological problemsQualificationsMSc Hydrogeology with a BSc in a related discipline (e.g., geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, environmental science)Current or ongoing chartership with a relevant professional bodyAlthough primarily a UK-based role, you will be expected to work collaboratively with teams across WSP’s global business.About Us and What’s in It For YouWe are one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms.
