We are seeking a Technical Director in Mechanical Engineering to lead in business development and mechanical engineering on Transformational Programmes for critical infrastructure, with opportunities to work on iconic engineering projects at home and abroad. You will play a strategic role as an industry leader in your discipline, bringing people together to shape innovative and viable solutions to complex challenges facing society. We specialise in all aspects of mechanical engineering across sectors including Water, Aviation, Defence, Energy, Cities & Development and Education, providing engineering solutions through the project lifecycle with client-side support as well as construction phases. We currently have opportunities in our All UK office.

Your Purpose

  • Be accountable for technical delivery and safety to high-quality levels across multiple projects and programmes, acting as a point of escalation for resolutions of complex technical matters.
  • Set our technical strategic direction for projects and bid proposals, as well as acting as a subject-matter-expert.
  • Lead an agenda of technical excellence and continuous improvement in the practice whilst being accountable for quality assurance standards in design.
  • Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Accountable for quality assurance standards in design.
  • Grow, develop and manage mechanical engineering capability within the practice. Bring pioneering innovation, contribute to advances in knowledge and understanding, and provide vision and inspiration to others.
  • Be a strategic partner for our Clients, sought out by them as a go-to person within your technical field.

What you can bring

  • Chartered or Fellow Mechanical Engineer.
  • Influential and esteemed leadership, internally and externally.
  • Multi-disciplinary integration and co-ordination experience and expertise.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, screens and chemical dosing plant as well as a deep understanding of current UK design standards and working practices.
  • Nationally or internationally recognised subject matter expertise in your discipline(s).
  • A strategic and transformational mindset.

Security clearance
