We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Technical Director to lead technical excellence, innovation, and sustainability across our UK operations.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll influence product strategy, drive cutting-edge innovation, and ensure packaging solutions meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and environmental responsibility.

The Opportunity

As Technical Director, you will take full ownership of the technical function, spanning:

Material science & product development
Quality systems & regulatory compliance
Sustainability strategy
Laboratory testing & accreditation
Innovation pipeline & product commercialisationYou'll play a key role on the senior leadership team, helping positioning as a market leader in sustainable rigid food packaging.

What You'll Be Doing

Innovation & Product Strategy

Define and lead the innovation roadmap across materials and packaging formats
Drive development of next-generation, sustainable packaging solutions
Translate customer needs into commercially viable product strategiesTechnical & Compliance Leadership

Oversee quality management systems and ensure compliance with standards such as BRCGS
Lead food-contact compliance and regulatory frameworks
Provide strategic direction for the testing laboratory, ensuring capability and accreditationCross-Functional Leadership

Champion collaboration across NPD, Commercial, Operations, and Quality teams
Implement a structured stage-gate process to bring products from concept to launch
Act as the technical voice in customer engagements, supporting key accountsSustainability & Continuous Improvement

Embed sustainability into all product decisions - recyclability, material reduction, circularity
Partner in group-wide sustainability goals
Continuously review and optimise the product portfolio with data-driven insightsAbout You

Essential Experience

Proven success in senior technical leadership roles
Strong background in product development and innovation (concept to launch)
Experience within food packaging, materials, or FMCG manufacturing
