Role Overview
The UK & Europe Inbound Trade Sales and Trade Client Desk Head is a leadership role within Citi's Trade and Working Capital Sales. This role is responsible for driving growth and maximizing revenue within Inbound Trade Sales with the Priority Growth portfolio and Trade Client Desk segments across the UK & Europe clusters. The successful candidate will lead a team of sales professionals focused on expanding existing client relationships, originating new business, and promoting innovative trade and working capital solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of trade finance, working capital management, and a proven track record of success in sales leadership.
What you’ll do
Inbound Trade Sales
Manage and lead the Inbound Trade Sales team for Priority Growth in the UK & Europe cluster, focusing on the priority multinational clients portfolio (Global Subsidiaries Group – GSG).
Collaborate closely with Trade Product and relationship teams to ensure a synergistic approach to client coverage and management.
Drive origination of new business, expand existing facilities, and replicate successful solutions across the client base.
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase wallet penetration within the assigned portfolio.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
Proactively identify and address client challenges, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
Stay abreast of market trends and competitor activities, adapting sales strategies as needed.
Trade Client Desk
Oversee the Trade Client Desk operations in the UK & Europe, focusing on Long Tail clients and transactional GSG portfolio names.
Implement and manage a portfolio-based approach to client coverage, emphasizing quick execution and minimal negotiation.
Promote the adoption of digital solutions (CitiDirect and eLoans) to streamline client interactions and improve efficiency.
Drive the origination of transactional business (Trade and Working Capital Loans and Core Trade) through mass-marketing campaigns and targeted sales initiatives.
Manage client facility utilization and deal management through Citi platforms and dashboards.
Act as a key enabler of the GSS/Banker-led model, providing support and guidance to ensure successful client engagement.
Control point for network access and profitable business within the Trade Client Desk segment.
General Responsibilities
Develop and manage the team's budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.
Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Collaborate effectively with other teams within Treasury and Trade Solutions, including Product, Operations, and Technology, to ensure seamless client service delivery.
Prepare and deliver regular performance reports to senior management, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.
Contribute to the development and implementation of new sales strategies and initiatives to enhance the overall performance of the Trade and Working Capital Sales business.
What we’ll need from you
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
Extensive experience in trade finance and working capital management.
Proven track record of success in sales leadership, with experience managing and motivating high-performing teams.
Strong understanding of financial markets and products.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional Requirements
Knowledge of Citi's internal systems and processes is a plus.
Experience working in a matrix organization is preferred.
Travel requirement >25% time
