Overview

A leading Top 5 Accounting firm is recruiting for a VAT Director focusing on Real Estate to join their team in Central London. The team consists of a mixture of home grown talent and external hires led by 5 Partners. As a VAT Director, you will adopt a commercial approach when developing and maintaining client relationships and take the lead on a variety of interesting, often complex advisory projects and technical assignments.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for project delivery on your portfolio
• Review work prepared by junior staff
• Liaise with HMRC
• Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets; keep client/Partner informed of changes in scope or overruns; plan staff assignments to provide appropriate experience
• Identify risks and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partner while exercising judgement within agreed parameters
• Provide overall support to Partners on client matters and assist in management and leadership of the group, including recruitment and management of staff
• Recognise business development opportunities and work with the Partner and client to develop these when they arise
• Develop contact with clients at senior level and maintain contact with other levels as appropriate to ensure client confidence

About you

• Significant understanding of and experience within UK VAT
• In-depth knowledge of recent key updates and areas of focus in Real Estate and Construction VAT
• Responsible for review of VAT compliance for your portfolio and involved in VAT advice required by clients, delegating and developing juniors to deliver this
• Ability to manage a large and varied client portfolio
• Ability to actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients
• Experience of dealing directly with HMRC
• Experience of dealing with client senior management and key stakeholders
• Ideally CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent
